Working Principle Of LCD Display

Leave a message

The working principle of LCD display mainly involves the electrically controlled arrangement of liquid crystal molecules and the modulation of light.

Basic working principle: LCD display uses electric field to control the arrangement of liquid crystal molecules, thereby changing the transmission or reflection state of light. When the current passes through the liquid crystal layer, the arrangement direction of the liquid crystal molecules will change, which will affect the propagation direction and intensity of the light, and then form an image on the screen.

Backlight and color filter: The LCD screen itself does not emit light, and a backlight source is required to provide light. After these lights pass through the liquid crystal layer, they pass through the color filter to form the image we see. Color filters usually contain red, green, and blue color filters, which form pixels according to a certain arrangement combination to display color images.

Polarizer and electrically controlled birefringence: Liquid crystal molecules can change the polarization state of light under the action of electric field. By controlling this property of liquid crystal molecules, the transmission or reflection of light can be precisely adjusted to achieve image display. Polarizers are used to control the polarization direction of light and are used in conjunction with the liquid crystal layer to achieve more efficient light modulation.

Scan drive and signal processing: In LCD screens, scan driver ICs are responsible for controlling the scanning of pixels and the processing of signals. They ensure that each pixel can correctly respond to the display signal, thereby achieving high-quality image display.
